After much delay and changing of plans, the Cook Islands Ministry of Education finally moved into their new premises in Nikao. The building is located next door to the Telecom Indoor Stadium, and payed for from surplus money left over from the building of that stadium, donated by the Chinese. Thankfully, our building wasn't actually built by the Chinese, so appears to be waterproof and sound, as unfortunately wasn't the case with our Police Station and Courthouse! We are also extremely close to Tereora College, the national college of the Cook Islands, which is most useful.
So while the building is new, unfortunately our new furniture is still in China and is expected to arrive in May or June. Consequently we had to bring with us all our old furniture from our old building. And because there wasn't a budget for moving we had to do it ourselves! So all the school's groundsmen were roped in to assist and all the males in the Ministry had to spend two days lifting and carting furniture. In this heat it was torture! Two flat bed trucks were bokked for the move, but unfortunately someone forgot to book a driver for one of them, so more delays! It was all very comical really.
But now we're here and the building itself is superb and my view is gorgeous...
